L.A. Nik follows in Ronald Reagan's footsteps. Sort of...

L.A. Nik Follows in Ronald Reagan's Footsteps. Sort of...

I get lucky enough to go to the Real screen television summit in Washington DC last month and I got to take Nancy with me. I'm always better off with her then without her. We get there and we're staying at the Washington Hilton where the summit is taking place.  It's the hotel Ronald Reagan was shot at.

After 3 nights and days of zero sleep I tell Nancy "if I don't sleep tonight I'll be in the hospital tomorrow" The next morning she awakes to me still with no sleep in a delirious state. As she gets out of the shower she hears me let out a very strange noise,  like dinosaur shit.  She comes out of the bathroom to find me in a full blown seizure.  Full speed flailing; full body for over 2 minutes and turning blue. Nancy calls 911 and I come to surrounded by paramedics.  They are asking me questions that I have no answers for - stuff like "what is your name"?

I said L.A.Nik. When they asked me where I was, I stated Minneapolis Minnesota.  They said No your in Washington DC.  I replied "What the hell I'm I doing in Washington DC" I really had no clue where I was,  who Nancy was or what the hell I was doing.  Very confused and very scared they whisked me through the convention on a stretcher  with a coat over my head and off to Washington Memorial Hospital.  That's the same trip Ronald Reagan took.

You  never know what's around the next corner.  With my blood pressure at 80 over 50 it could of been the end but I had great people caring for me and the best mate "Nancy" a guy could have.  Thanks God for Nancy being with me or you all might be reading my obituary right now instead of this blog post.

Even though we did hit a few of the museums and will never forget the trip, poor Nancy had to see that and deal with me all week. It was high stress and far from a vacation!  I hope she lets me make it up to her. We did have fun a few nights but my 911 call and trip to the hospital really put a damper on things. I'm fine now and in good health but I really learned you never know what's around the next corner.  If you asked me 2 weeks ago if would be in Washington DC and at the hotel Reagan was shot at and have to go to the same hospital I  would of strongly bet against it. -LA.Nik
