I sit on the Judging panel for the show with Lance King of Nightmare Records, hosted by local spokesperson Meisha Johnson. Its encouraging to see over 80 bands that have submitted to compete in this contest to win professional recording time and marketing packages. The semi-finals start this coming week and you can catch some of it at G.B. Leighton's Pickle Park on Tuesday night.
There are hundreds of local bands / musician groups just in the Twin Cities area alone. Last night we saw groups that had been playing together for years, all the way down to a family band where the members were all around 14 years old, with a female lead.
Im not saying they're all good; in-fact many of them need help. That's what this show is designed to do - separate the true talent from the rest of the masses and give some criticism and feedback. Here are a couple of photos from last night.
